A Warm Welcome From
Hello, and thank you for visiting our website; we are delighted to welcome you to our school. Charlestown Primary School is located in St Austell, on the edge of Charlestown village and very close to the beautiful beach of Carlyon Bay. Our school is a 2-form of entry primary school for up to 420 pupils aged between 4 and 11.
Central to life at our school is our school vision of ‘Inspire, Enrich, Enlighten’. This vision is shared by everyone at Charlestown from our youngest pupils to our most senior staff and our local governors. This vision complements our Trust Core Shared Values and our Trust Philosophy of ‘work hard, be honest & help others’.
Our team of staff are committed to making children’s learning as exciting as possible and our trailblazing approach to using IT to support teaching and learning has led us to be a Microsoft Showcase School.
We hope that our website gives you an insight into what our children experience here at Charlestown Primary School. If you have any queries or would like to visit us and experience our school for yourself to get a glimpse of learning in action, or have a look around our fantastic forest school area and bike track, then please contact our school office team on 01726 812831 or send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Mission Statement: Inspire, Enrich, Enlighten
To achieve this, we believe in….

On Friday, we held our Remembrance Assembly in school. We welcomed parents and carers who are past and present members of the Armed Services to join us and encouraged any children who are part of Brownies, Scouts, Rainbows and Cubs to wear their uniforms. We talked about the importance of Remembrance Sunday and the poppy, ending with a 2 minute silence. Thank you to all who participated and made it such as special assembly. Lest We Forget.

Last Friday, Trevisker, Beacon and Foxhole joined us to take part in the Kernow Learning Cross Country Mountain Bike Race. We had fully trained coach's from The Cornwall Bicycle Project CIC here to help. Children learned how to brake properly, how to position their feet and body on the bike and how to change gears. The field was muddy and wet but the rain held off making near perfect conditions for racing. The race started and Charlestown were off to a good start, however on the third bend our rider fell, our other team rider stopped to make sure he was ok and the other schools took full advantage and raced ahead. Trevisker managed to gain a good lead with their very experienced rider and although we put up a valiant effort we just could not catch them on the sloppy, wet, muddy loop. All four schools had a team in the top four with Trevisker taking home the trophy made by our resident Pirate Caretaker, Mr P. A great day with lots of muddy smiles on faces.
We are running school tours and stay and play sessions for little ones starting school in 2024!
Next Stay & Play: 27th Nov 3.15-4.15pm
